Winnie broke ground in several of her positions as not only the African-American, but as the first woman selected in a prestigious and highly competitive industry. Her rich career includes five years as a Wine Lecturer for The French Culinary Institute, Sommelier at the esteemed James Beard Foundation, and the Regional Touring Sommelier for Opus One Winery (based in Napa, CA) in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. As a representative for Frederick Wildman and Sons, her clients included top hotels, restaurants and private clubs. She also represented Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, the largest and most respected importer of Bordeaux wine from the classified chateaux and other French estates in the US. After finishing graduate school at nearly 30, Winnie earned a spot as a bunny at the highly competitive Playboy Club, the best training in the hospitality arena.

Winnie holds a bachelorís degree from Livingstone College and a masterís degree from the Pratt Institute. She is currently attending Berkeley College. Professional seminars include the International Wine Center and a certificate course at the Court of Master Sommeliers.
